Mr Tan Wei graduated from the National University of Singapore with a bachelor of science in physics (with honours) and following that the National Institute of Education where he completed his teaching training.
Since then, he taught and lectured H2 physics in the National Junior College from 2006 to 2011 at both JC1 and JC2 levels. Thereafter, he also taught physics (upper secondary) at the School of Science and Technology, Singapore from 2012 to 2020.
With years of experience in both the O- and A- level physics syllabuses, Mr Tan Wei believes in teaching physics for conceptual understanding with reference to real-world applications. He also believes in the infusion of compatible ICT tools in his lessons that will help improve student engagement, develop collaborative learning and assimilate abstract concepts. Last but not least, in his classes he advocates the inculcation of 21st century skills (e.g. respect, responsibility, resilience, integrity) to help steer his students towards personal improvements, achievements and life-long successes in their respective areas of interest and endeavour.
To his past students, Mr Tan Wei is a patient, supportive and approachable teacher who believes that every student has the potential to achieve success in his or her learning with the right support and mentoring.
