Mr Jonathan Leong

Mr. Jonathan Leong graduated from Nanyang Technological University (NTU) with a Bachelor of Engineering with Honours (Highest Distinction) in Materials Engineering, alongside a Minor in Mathematics.

His teaching journey began during his university days, where he served as a tutor for two rigorous courses under the NTU School of Materials Science and Engineering: Mechanical Behaviour of Materials and Introduction to Metallurgy. It was here that he discovered his calling in education, finding immense satisfaction in guiding his peers to success in subjects widely considered to be the most challenging in the degree program. Additionally, Mr. Leong contributed extensively to the publication of a research paper on the mitigation of warpage in 3D-printed ceramics in the prestigious Journal of the American Ceramic Society. His robust foundation in engineering and mathematics equips him with a unique, applied perspective, allowing him to seamlessly break down complex physics concepts for his students.

Upon graduation, he taught Cambridge International Examination (CIE) Physics and Mathematics at both the IGCSE and A-Level in an international school setting. Here, he successfully guided students of diverse nationalities to academic excellence and became a highly regarded mentor within the student body. He was heavily involved in curriculum development, creating highly effective, scaffolded learning materials tailored to bridge knowledge gaps and boost student performance. Furthermore, he oversaw the comprehensive execution of physics laboratory sessions across both the IGCSE and A-Level syllabi, ensuring students developed strong practical skills.

Today, Mr. Leong possesses an in-depth understanding of the Cambridge syllabus and the common pitfalls students face during examinations. His subject mastery, ability to communicate highly technical concepts clearly, and dedication to cultivating an engaging classroom experience consistently help his students build newfound confidence in Physics and achieve rapid, significant grade improvements. He is a firm believer in empowering students to excel through a proven cycle of consistent review, targeted practice, and constructive feedback to achieve true subject mastery.
