Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science at the National University of Singapore (NUS), Mr Daniel Tan brings both a strong academic foundation and a passion for teaching to his lessons. He graduated from Eunoia Junior College, where he excelled in the sciences, achieving an ‘A’ in H2 Physics and a ‘Distinction’ in H3 Physics. His success in these rigorous courses has equipped him with a deep understanding of the subject, which he now shares with his students through personalised tutoring.
With over two years of experience in private tuition, Mr Tan has worked with a diverse range of students, each with unique learning styles and needs. This experience has allowed him to refine his ability to explain complex physics concepts in a clear and approachable manner, breaking down abstract theories into understandable, practical steps. His teaching methodology focuses on building a solid conceptual foundation, followed by extensive practice and application to ensure mastery of the material.
Mr Tan believes in active learning and encourages students to ask questions, engage in discussions, and independently solve problems to develop critical thinking skills. Recognising that each student has their own strengths and areas for improvement, Mr Tan tailors his teaching style to meet individual needs. He focuses on building confidence by providing additional practice and detailed explanations for students who may struggle with certain topics. Additionally, he helps students refine their exam strategies and offers tips on time management as well as provide guidance on how to approach challenging exam questions with a strategic mindset.
Throughout his years of tutoring, Mr Tan has seen significant improvements in his students’ academic performance. Many students have raised their grades by two or more bands, demonstrating the effectiveness of his personalized teaching approach. However, Mr Tan is not solely focused on grades—he strives to foster a genuine appreciation for physics, motivating students to engage with the subject beyond rote memorization.
His students often gain a deeper understanding of the subject, and feel more confident in their abilities. The progress his students make is a testament to his dedication and ability to adapt his teaching methods to suit each student’s individual needs and learning pace.
