Mr Long Shi Chun

Having gone through the GCSE O and A-level curriculum personally, Mr Long understands the challenges students face and uses that experience to provide clear, structured guidance. This first-hand knowledge allows for a teaching approach that is both empathetic and effective, and most importantly easy for students to digest.

The foundation of his passion for teaching was built at an early age while tutoring his younger sibling who has also underwent GSCE O-levels. Explaining concepts, breaking down difficult topics, and ensuring they fully understood their studies became a regular responsibility. This experience not only reinforced subject knowledge but also helped develop essential teaching skills such as patience, adaptability, and the ability to communicate ideas in a way that resonates with different learners. Giving such support helped his sibling show significant improvement, from F9 to C6 in (E)Mathematics and D7 to A2 for combined science.

This early passion extended beyond the family when Mr Long took on a volunteer tutoring role for underprivileged children. For a year, working with students who had limited access to academic support, he helped organise their curriculum and tracked their progress in school, catering to each student individually.

Mr Long helped Kai Academy’s Curriculum for A-Math and Pure Physics, giving himself complete familiarity, confidence and mastery of the centre’s resources. With this expertise, he is able to translate the necessary concepts and skills to all his students, ensuring that all critical concepts are delivered to students.

Above all, he sees teaching as more than just delivering lessons; it is about fostering an environment where students feel encouraged to ask questions, make mistakes, and develop confidence in their learning abilities. By prioritizing clarity, inclusivity, and individualized support, he remains committed to ensuring that every student has the opportunity to succeed.

“Hi everyone! I’m Mr Long. I’ve known that I’ve always liked teaching as I have been helping my siblings with their studies. I specialize in teaching Additional Math and Pure Physics, as I come from that background and find those the most interesting! I understand what it feels like to feel behind on a subject, as I’ve ‘been there and done that’, and know exactly the steps we can take together to improve. Hope to work with you soon!”
