Mr Liew graduated from the National University of Singapore (NUS) with a B.Sc. (Honours) in Applied Mathematics and a Second Major in Statistics. Since graduation, he has been a full-time mathematics tutor, having previously tutored part-time.
Specializing exclusively in Mathematics, Mr Liew focuses on Upper Secondary A-Math/E-Math and JC H2 Math. His students achieve substantial grade improvements, with some progressing from as low as 20+% to Distinctions in the O-Level A-Math/E-Math exams.
During his time at Dunman High School, Mr Liew consistently achieved near or full marks in all his mathematics exams from Secondary 1 to Junior College 2. However, he does not consider himself a math prodigy. Instead, he attributes his success to a unique set of exam-solving techniques that he has refined over the years. He has developed systematic and efficient methods for tackling different question types while minimizing careless mistakes — strategies he now imparts to his students.
His passion for teaching began when he was in Secondary 3 when he was assigned to tutor his weaker classmates and discovered his enjoyment for teaching. Determined to pursue this passion, he chose to study Mathematics at NUS to equip himself with the necessary qualifications to become a full-time mathematics tutor immediately after graduation.
Mr Liew firmly believes that any student can excel in mathematics with the right exam techniques and a solid grasp of fundamental concepts. His lessons emphasize both critical thinking and a structured approach to problem-solving. He also ensures that students develop a thorough understanding of mathematical concepts when learning new content.
